The difference for me is, my mail client is open all the time. I get a
pop-up to say I have new mail, which I can look at straight away
or ignore and look at later. I can then respond or not as I see fit.

To go to a web page I have to make an effort to open a browser, find
the link in favourites and go there.

My initial reaction to the page (I looked for the first time this
morning) is I doubt I will see as much information as I do now.
I don't think I will spend the time browsing all the forums and so
may miss out on some hidden nuggets.

Of all the user groups I subscribe to, the ones that have fallen by
the wayside have all been web based. Those that I am still active in
are almost all email based.

It's a shame Mario couldn't find a system he liked that supported
an email based list as well. For me I don't think the advantages
of this new list will outweigh the loss of individual emails. I
guess only time will tell.
