You can get individual "messages" one for each started thread using the RSS
feature. Search in the IMatch forum or the FAQ for "RSS".

You have several free stand alone readers ("WildGrape NewsDesk" or
"ActiveWebReader") or some non-free MS Outlook integrated reader (NewsGator,
which I'm evaluating right now). And there are many other solutions for
reading RSS content.

You can also syndicate and receive news from DPReview and CNN channels and
many, many more.

Hi Ruth,

You can not get individual emails but you can get four digests per day.

I'll add a sample to the botton of this message.

Mario, thank you. I am aware of this option in the slide show.But there are
tabs 
at the bottom on the left side of the interface - Database, Categories, 
Selections, View. So I have selected the image and then clicked on the View
tab, 
now it shows cached imaged but there is no 'i' option.

I have a number of images in my database which have an area in the image
that I 
want to duplicate as a separate image. E.g. I'd like to do the following:
   (a) pull up the image in a plain-vanilla-editor (either Imatch's builtin,
or 
in Irfanview)
   (b) crop the image to show only the area I want
   (c) save image
   (d) pull into database
   (e) copy all properties/categories of the original image, either
manually, or 
using a macro I haven't written yet.

This process seems rather cumbersome. Is there a better way?

(possible feature request: A "virtual crop" would be nice, e.g. you select
an 
image, manually define a crop area, and Imatch creates a new entry in the 
database which is the original image cropped in the way you specify. For 
example, if you had a 10MB image file with a slight crop, it wouldn't create
a 
new file on your disk, just an entry in the database that explains how to 
display the image from the original image. Not sure if the performance hit
would 
make this not useful.)

I have created database properties but can not edit them - edit icon is

Try closing IMatch and starting it again. If the edit icon is still grayed
out, 
I don't know what to suggest.

It is not possible to change the sequence of properties except be removing
them 
and entering them again in the desired sequence. Doing so will result in the

loss of anything that you have entered. The next major upgrade of IMatch
will 
fix that but for now you are locked in.

Hey, maybe not. I believe that there is a script that will write properties
to 
IPTC. If your image format will allow IPTC, you could:
1) Copy your properties to IPTC, say supplemental categories.
2) Remove properties as needed.
3) Enter the properties in the desired sequence.
4) Use IPTC Import to get your data back into properties.

kitoboi,

you can pull up the category splasher with crtl+alt+A, you can turn on the 
property fields with ctrl+5 and turn on splashers with ctrl+6.

Interestingly enough though it only works if I run my screen on a high 
resolution (1600x1024). It does not work when I have it at 1024x768.

If you are running your screen at a lower resolution you might want to use
the 
Image Reviewer (F11). It is a very similar display, but maybe too little
screen 
real estate devoted to the image.

Let me know what works on your machine.

I don't think you missed anything. All external media will show as a
seperate 
folder per disk, DVD, tape, etc. And all offline folders show on top of your

hardrive folder.

So, yes, if you have 100 DVDs you will see 100 folders on top of your
hardrive 
folder. You can give them meaningful names though and it becomes easy to
scan 
through.
