Making Inkscpe SVGs accessible to screen readers

I've been trying to make SVGs exported from Inkscape accessible to
screen readers for an article I'm editing on Wikipedia. I've been
using the following article as a reference but I'm still not sure if
what I'm doing is correct : https://css-tricks.com/accessible-svgs/ .

Any help would be appreciated.
