Actually it didn't work for you - you didn't get the Libertine font you 
wanted - it just failed in a more interesting way :-)

Apparently you have CMR fonts with T1 encoding in Type 1 format 
installed on your system.  That is not always the case (CMR with OT1 
encoding are in Type 1 format by default, but that's usually not the 
case for the T1 encoding).
