Hi, AFAIK, ipe on OSX just tries to call pdflatex, which searches for it in the system path, i.e., the directories in the PATH environment variable. Now, on OSX you can invoke ipe in two different ways: 1. From the command line (i.e., open Terminal.app, and type ipe, perhaps cd to the directory of the ipe executable first) 2. Click on the ipe.app under Applications For the command line version (1.), the system path is set to some default, and modified according to the settings in your .profile file. You can set it manually by calling `export PATH=newpath:$PATH` before calling ipe For the app version (2.), the problem is that no PATH environment variable gets set by OSX and .profile is not read either. Therefore, this is handled by the ipe.app itself. There are again two possibilities: 1. The officially provided ipe binary package contains a script that sets the path before calling ipe. You can modify this to your liking (I think in /Applications/Ipe.app/Contents/MacOS/Ipe) 2. The ipe.app Application built by the MacPorts install puts the path information into the Info.plist file (/Applications/MacPorts/Ipe.app/Contents/Info.plist). You can also modify this to your liking. However, the MacPorts version already includes more possible directories in the default, so it might just work without any editing. Hope this helps.
