That is not a MNG bug!

However, your patch does provide a clue.  Since the behavior changes
when you apply the patch (with respect to MNG/JNG), the patch adds
something about MNG/JNG that is already in the code about JPEG.

It must be in one of the files that your patch touches:

It wouldn't be in libpr0n/decoders/mng or libimg/mng because those
don't get compiled.
