What happened to the ability to select/drag multiple objects from stencils in OG5?

In OG4 and lower I was always able to select multiple stencil objects
by either shift-clicking or lassoing a few objects and dragging them
into my canvas. But in OG5, this feature seems to have disappeared. I
don't want to have to group all objects in my stencil to get this
feature back.

Is this a bug or intended behavior? If it was intended behavior, I
really hope you'd consider bringing it back. I've backed out of OG5
twice already in the past year because features were evolved in a
direction that made it more difficult for me to use. This one is
another deal breaker.

P.S. Off of this topic, I'd also be happy to participate in any
dialogue about how some of the features of the old Master Canvases
could work better with shared layers if anyone cares to listen. I use
OG for web design, and the way master canvases has changed has really
affected my flow in both good and bad ways. I'd like to see a bit
discussion about how to improve that functionality.
