Hi Chris, I've done some quick reverse-engineering of that using the 30 day free download of iWork 09. Unfortunately, they aren't doing any kind of generalized updating/embedding architecture. Instead, they've specifically shared the code for chart drawing between all 3 apps, and the linking is just to a Numbers file alias and chart name, and then Pages or Keynote actually opens up and reads the Numbers file to update the data and then uses its own copy of the code to render the chart. In short, it's very specific to charts and it isn't generic enough for Graffle updating/embedding, so LinkBack is still very likely still the only solution. - Greg On Jan 8, 2009, at 8:42 AM, Chris Ridd wrote: > This is probably to early to get any sensible answers, but I'll ask > anyway! > > There's some kind of live updating/embedding of objects in iWork 09. > Does support for that extend to third party apps like OmniGraffle, > or do we still have to rely on Linkback plugins/hacks for iWork? > > Cheers, > > Chris > _______________________________________________ > OmniGraffle-Users mailing list > [email protected] > http://www.omnigroup.com/mailman/listinfo/omnigraffle-users
