Another reason why loss of proper masters hurts: Can't inherit guides

I used to have a guides in my master canvases that my new canvases
would inherit. This is for Interaction Design work using OG for
wireframes. Now I can't figure out a proper way to copy guides into
new canvases. The workaround I've been using is to create my masters
as first class canvases and then copy each of those. Then when the
document is done I have to make them non-printing, which doesn't
always work for exports, or delete them. Very painful. Any suggestions
for a better way to deal with this?
