This redefinition of the division operator:
In these equations, "/" means integer division that rounds toward negative
infinity
Is incredibly confusing. The actual simplification of the two equations is:
physical_value = p0 + p1 * (stored_sample / max) + x0 / (x1-x0))
I.e. the 0.5 disappears because of the floor.
