This is what I'm assuming.

However there's only one proposal on the table at present and it has
no compression.  At present there is no compression code and there is
no compression proposal, just a series of statements.  It's difficult
to argue against something that doesn't exist (well, I think it is.)

That's why I wrote the proposal I wrote; so that there was no chance
of misinterpretation.

The lesson there is to make the rules of the vote clear before the
vote.  This is called SPMV; Single Person Multiple Vote.  You can vote
for as many or as few proposals as you like, the one with the most
votes wins, equal votes for both result in limbo until someone casts
an extra vote.
