I see this discussion descending into a debate over voting procedures and a set of assertions about how great a proposal is. I think we need actual implementations. That will allow everyone on this list to consider what the real complexity and real restrictions of each proposal are. So I'm just going to continue with what I was doing on the github project I created but enhance it with a pair of functions that can be incorporated into any application and use any version of libpng to read and write the data. I'll also make jpegtopng a somewhat more credible application by correctly recording EXIF data which relates to the current image encoding in the PNG way insofar as is possible, probably by using libexif to read the relevant tags.
