It is not a requirement to start the formal vote immediately after the CFD, correct? > If eXIf (uncompressed) passes, which I expect will happen, then zXIf > becomes moot. ... and, if not, then zXIf won't, either, because of the split votes. We will end up, yet again, with a lot of energy wasted due to lack of final agreement. The PNG spec will remain the same, while TIFF will continue eating our lunch. For this reason, I propose the following: Would it be possible to please wait until both the optionally-compressed and the mandatorily-uncompressed EXIF CFD finalize? At the end, take an informal straw poll, find out who favors what, and then proceed to the formal vote with one single, final proposal. I, for one, would *not* vote "no" for mandatorily-uncompressed EXIF. I do favor an optionally-compressed EXIF, as people here already know; and yet, having invested time, energy and code both in the PNG format and in digital photography, I would prefer one ratified EXIF-in-PNG standard, rather than no standard.
