In a new installation of Linux Mint 21.2 Victoria GIMP offers only
“scanimage”.

My printer/scanner is a Epson XP-6100Here is what I have done:

  *

Installation of GIMP via Application Installation
    (“Anwendungsverwaltung” in German)

  *

    Installation of XSanevia Application Installation

  *

    Set a symbolic link:

        ln -s /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins ~/.config/GIMP/2.10/plug-ins

  *

    Deleted the cache

The Menu “File” > “create” shows only “scanimage”.

Because the Epson XP-6100 was not supported when I installed in 2021 on
Linux Mint 20.0 I had to install via the ppa “sane-project/sane-git”.
For that reason I did the following:

  *

    I uninstalled XSane

  *

    I addedthe ppa“sane-project/sane-git”

  *

    I installed XSane

  *

    I set a symbolic link:

        ln -s /usr/bin/xsane~/.config/GIMP/2.10/plug-ins

  *

    I deleted the cache

The Menu “File” > “create” still shows only “scanimage”.
