Hoi Hanneke,

In addition to what Greg wrote, you might also be tempted to use 1.5.6svn, which is available under the same address mentioned by Greg (https://sourceforge.net/projects/scribus/files/scribus-devel/). It provides some major improvements, as well as countless bugfixes.
