But it has the advantage that I can better control the thickness of the lines. Is it possible that the way PDFs are made on my system does not allow for line thickness < 0.3 mm? At least it seems so. The example I had (where I had the idea from) was a printed flyer from a bank with tables which had these lines. They used a small font and very fine lines which Scribus doesn't make and my printer does not print although I think it should be able to. As the width of the tables in my document is fixed it is ok to have a fixed line length and save it like this.
