Here is an idea: for bigger files, just send a '.svgz' instead of a
'.svg'.  I believe svgz is officially recognized by the SVG standard.
(For those who don't know, svgz is equivalent to .svg.gz).
SVG compresses very well (it is basically a text file after all).
