Maye.

I just did a little search on the archives, neither 'layer' nor
'layers' came up with anything; either it's just me, my broswer or the
sf.net search engine.

I will rather spend some time designing/drawing than reading them one
mail at a time.

Perhaps, perhaps not; just make sure one of them isn't to scare off
newbies, it has hurt more projects than this one.

No it isn't -- it's true. I can deal with it becouse I don't need
that feature at the moment but my short battle with it so far make me
doubt it's worth my time when I might.

No. I have *never* used CorelDraw -- deal with it. This is shearing,
not perspective transformation aka gimp. In gimp I place each corner
of a rectangle manually, this could perhaps work with the node tool,
but aparently it doesn't work on groups. Shearing is not the best
tool to place texture/images in perspective when the rest of the image
is.
