Adding text in Helvetica

Hi,

I have some bitmap images that I'd like to add some text and simple
vector drawing on top of; I think sodipodi can achieve this. I can
already import the bitmap image and then draw and write text on top of
the image.

However, my problem is that I would like to add the text in Helvetica;
yet when i get the "Text and font" dialog, I do not see an entry for
Helvetica. Could anyone enlighten me how I can get text written in
Helvetica?

Here are my system details. I'm running sodipodi 0.34 on a redhat 9
linux machine. I think my machine can produce Helvetica fonts, since
our latex distribution can make Helvetica fonts using the following
simple tex file

\documentclass[]{article}
\usepackage{helvet}
\begin{document}
\fontfamily{phv}\selectfont This appears in Helvetica.
\end{document}

Also, "gimp" has the following font entries:
helvet
helvetica (adobe) (cronyx) (kochi) (urw)

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Stephen Eglen
