license question

Hello,

i've noticed that the license for y-windows is LGPL. 
is there any reason why this was picked over a
BSD-style license? 
i think it would be more desireable to develop 
and more popular if it was in a 
more liberal BSD license.

not trying to start a flamewar, just wondering.
