Given that Y is incredibly lightweight (well, it is now), and it's meant as a transitional thing only (even if it takes 20 years to get everybody off X and on Y) I think the cost of wrapping should be affordable. People publicly left because of it. I've thought of (publicly) unsubscribing because of it too. Then again, I think the project still has a future and I might even be of some help improving the environment now and then. > I think we just need a few people to lead everyone into development > than have everyone telling everyone else how bad their idea is. Well, there's a lot of people interested even if many of them have to put it on the backburner for this or that reason. That doesn't mean we shouldn't have some courtesy for each others ideas. Discussion is what the list is for, but that does demand explanation of why you think ideas are very or maybe not so very brilliant. I want an environment for brainstorming and discussion, and I want an environment to try out the ideas. The first one requires some courtesy, and it means you'll have to back up your points with proof or at least argument. The second requires we agree on a build environment that is simple, works for many and doesn't require daily updates of all the build tools that are so cool to have but don't actually contribute much in terms of time saved, stability, and portability. Anyway, I'll step down from my soapbox now. I've said most of the above before and I'll put in as much effort as I can spare to help get there, but with just me on the soapbox it won't happen. -- j p d (at) d s b (dot) t u d e l f t (dot) n l .
