I'm thinking something like QNX' ``canned message'' built out of those remote object method calls. For those not familiar, QNX is a message passing microkernel OS, and canned messages are a pre-built message pending in the kernel, to be delivered on a fast path to the recipient on the sender's signal. Repeatedly if necessairy. This allows for very quick passing of messages for which the sender already knows what it is supposed to say. If it wasn't for the single destination it'd be a great way for spamming. For Y the mechanism makes for nice server-side macro sequences. Tell me if I'm stating the obvious. Could very well be this is the same as the GL display lists principle on a different layer, I'm not that familiar with GL. The principle seems useful, just what layer we're on is different. If we can make both cut short, so much the better. -- j p d (at) d s b (dot) t u d e l f t (dot) n l .
