conduit

I'm a student who work on palmos application.
I'm developing in C under linux , with GCC and SDK.
I will need assistance for palmos database (read and write record), and 
also for the conduits.
If  somebody can give me some explanations on the conduits, I will want 
import a palmos database that will have been converted at text format or 
other, on a PC
