Problems with font sizes in rxvt

I'm having some problems with font sizes in rxvt in X. The font is far
larger than it should be and hence the characters don't display, just
a veyr large cursor.

This problem doesn't happen in GPE, but it does happen in e17 (I
realize this isn't an e17 list, please bear with me).

This happens only on images built on my linux box, but not on the few
that I've used that hrw built on ewi. I really have no idea why this
happens, especially since another image of essentially the same thing
works fine.

What I'd like to know is all of the ways that the font size could be
affected for rxvt so that I can figure out what is happening. Changing
the rxvt font size in Xdefaults wouldn't get the font size low enough
to use.
