vi on universal help editing gpe-bootsplash

Hi
I want to apply the following to the 

/etc/init.d/gpe-bootsplash

"HTC Universal")
ARGS="--force-landscape --flip"


by the use of vi
because there is no touch screen and I can only do this on the universal itself.

I dont know the hot keys for the editor no mouse or touchscreen.

I have added the lines but do not know how to exit vi
what is the hotkey for the ESC key??
