The A500 has 1xRTT data service, which typically works at 50-70 kbps,
or 5-7 KB/sec of data. The i300 is a CDMA IS-95A phone, and it
receives and sends data at 14.4kbps, or about 1.5KB/sec.

However, the i300 is a Palm, too, which means you can run independent
of the web, and have access to over 14,000 PalmOS 3 compatible
programs and a huge collection of freeware at
http://www.freewarepalm.com and elsewhere.  

Forex: My wife and I use WeSync <http://www.wesync.com> to share our
calendars. Whenever she syncs her Palm, WeSync parks her schedule
changes on its server and pulls down my schedule changes to hers. When
I sync, my Palm sends my schedule in her direction and updates with
her data.  WeSync also will do Address Book data as well, and I'm
about to implement that, as I have Too Many Names to synchronize with
her address book and vice versa.  It's freeware, too.

The huge number of Palms out there means you leverage the software
development done for millions of other folks.  

Yes, it's a 2G device, and yes, the color is a little washed out.
However, IMO, try it, and you likely will be hooked within a week.

BTW, I read on alt.cellular.sprintpcs that Sprint is dropping the 'pay
to change' policy, so likely it won't cost you anything to swap phones.
