I must repectfully disagree. Li-Ion batteries do no respond well to being allowed to go totally flat. . .and flat they will go whether the  batt switch is on or off. They generally will self-discharge as much as ten percent per day. I don't know what condition your battery was in when you left it into "retirement", but this  may well have been it's 'death knell'. 
   Changing the battery on a 3600 is relatively trivial, and cheap. There are complete picture instructions on the 'net'. There's no realy danger of leaving it a brick since you have already flashed Familiar onto the ROM.
