  It should be possible also from bootldr prompt, but I wouldn't

  As far as I know, wince doesn't depend on bootloader currently
installed (if we assume it is able to boot:). At least I was able to
play with wince and wifi card updates without problems, and I had
bootldr installed.

  What is the exact error you are getting? And also, note that if you
update firmware to 1. versions, it will not yet work with existing
at76c503 driver (it might work with atmelwlandriver, but I have not
tried it).

  You just need to hold action button and reboot device to enter bootldr
command line, or sending some characters (tested with enter or
backspace) via serial port when device is booting causes bootldr to stop
at its prompt. You should use minicom with 115200 bauds, no parity and
8bits (and no flow control).
