see the problem here is that i need to do an hp rom update in order to
be able to do a wifi firmware update - and as far as i know it resets
the ipaq and puts it into some kind of odd place whereby it rewrites the
rom - im assuming this was part of the original bootloader and as i dont
have it now - it simply resets the ipaq and waits indefinitely (the
update program on the host pc)

from what i had read i was meant to hold the centre joystick while
resetting until it buzzed (vibrated) and then press calendar - but as im
typing this i cant seem to find that information now... - either way i
cant seem to get it to give me anything via the serial port at all -
whether trying to sync over serial or via the bootloader - are there any
things i should be looking for on this device that maybe was a regular
problem? or something i could do to get around this - im happy to do it
another way if it means i can finally have a roaming linux device
