yes indeed, no icon shows you your Ipaq is connected !..but you can check it by typing "ifconfig" in a terminal window, and if everything is OK, you'll see a "usb0" ( or something like that...) among the net interfaces opened on your machine; this is what I can see with my Ipaq h3630 running Familiar 0.8.4 plugged on my Ubuntu 7.10 desktop PC.
Then you have to configure the IP adresses of both your host and your Ipaq...I can  now "ping" my Ipaq from my host and vice et versa...the last thing is to tune the firewall as it can route the requests of your Ipaq to the web...something that is still puzzling me !

Happy to find I'm not alone in the intersidereal emptyness....;-)))
