The H55xx series of Ipaq does not update the display when the bootloader runs. It does buzz once when the bootloader starts. It is accessible via the serial cable, and a program like Hyperterminal can be used to access it as a serial console from Windows. >From memory (and I have not done this in some years) you issue a load root command in the serial console and then send the root image via zmodem. Once complete you issue a boot command and root image should boot.
