As far as I can tell, the only real magic of booting Intimate is the pivot_root, and it doesn't seem all that important to do it very early, as long as the services we launch and the modules we load are duplicated in our Intimate installations. If PCMCIA isn't ready until /etc/init.d/pcmcia runs, then /linuxrc isn't the best place to switch over to Intimate. Maybe instead we should do it from a script in /etc/init.d.
