getting intimate booting with v0.5pre? II

Hard resets, putting various sleeps in the linuxrc
and modprobing everything in sight still don't seem to do the
trick for getting intimate to boot with familiar v0.5pre.

The cardmgr is giving up the ghost and the boot sequence
is then crashing through to the familiar boot, at which point
it attempts to mount the drive as ext2, so it has spotted it by then....
