Michael,

Hi.. sorry I missed your first post for so long... I left my mail client
open at home while I was away for the week... it was a couple of days before
I realised and got my girlfriend to kill it for me.

The chances are that the install instructions are slightly inaccurate...
(It's a bugger messing with the installer because I have to wipe my iPAQ
each time to make sure it's really working).

get the following file onto your iPAQ, and then ipkg install
./intimateboot_0.5-1_arm.ipk

http://intimate.handhelds.org/installer/intimateboot_0.5-1_arm.ipk

That'll get the right files into place on the familiar side of things... (it
only contains the pivot_root binary and the linuxrc.intimate file)

I'm not sure that the istaller correctly auto-installs this... and the
messages it prints when(if) it does install this are almost certainly wrong
anyhow.. (I edited the installer to use the new package on 4th Jan... I
forgot about the echo statements).

On my iPAQ, I moved the old linuxrc to linuxrc.familiar, and made
linuxrc.intimate the default... (I was too lazy to mess with the boot
params).

Hope this helps,

Jim / Tangent

Subject: [Intimate] installing intimate on ipaq

I had posted awhile ago about some problems with the new intimate
instructions to edit /boot/params and add a param to the boot
instructions that show /linuxrc.intimate. While the file shows up
correctly in my / file system on the ipaq running familiar 0.5, when I
add it per the instructions at the end of the intimate install process,
I cannot get booted to intimate whatsoever. I read some older archives
and the new booter does not include support for these params so one adds
changes or additions to /boot/param.

Since I believe I had added this correctly, how do I get intimate
working? I know the install happens correctly and that i correctly
edited the /boot/params file per the instructions presented in the
installer script update which is on the intimate website dated 4 Jan 02.

Thanks for any help on this. I would definitely like to get intimate
booting on my 1g microdrive.

Regards!
