You could also have a look at the Toshiba 1.8" PCMCIA Drives... £272+VAT for
5GB from www.scan.co.uk.

I've no idea which PCMCIA scsi cards would be supported. The quick answer is
probably.. most 16bit PCMCIA cards will work.. 32bit Cardbus cards will
never work. The iPAQ doesn't have the hardware to support them.

You may know I've been trying to get a pure-NFS system set up, without much
luck --- I get random lockups for no apparent reason, possibly related to
running out of memory but possibly not. I've tried swapping over NFS
(doesn't
work); swapping over netblk (deadlocks); swapping onto a flash card (card
wasn't recognised). So, I need some mass storage.

Now, I could get a microdrive (120 UKP for the 340MB version). Or, I could
get a SCSI PCMCIA card and hook the iPAQ up to one of the many SCSI drives
we
currently have. 75 UKP for the card, drives are free, and a lot larger than
340MB. We don't need to iPAQ to be portable for this application.

So; has anyone tried this? What cards are supported by the Familiar/Intimate
kernel? Cardbus or not cardbus? Is this a good idea?

Also: where can I get the source to the current kernel?
