PCMCIA Card Not being read in Jornada 720?

I tried installing a dlink dfe-690txd ethernet card in
the jornada 720, however it didn't see the card.  It
doesn't even make a sound like something was
installed.  Is my pcmcia card slot broken? or it just
can't read it? it says nothing is there under the
device/ expansion slot 1 under system properties and I
checked Socket LP-E/EIO and shows everything
unavailable and mac adress is 00000000000.
