Thank you for the offer of some up-front funding!  I will certainly consider it, but just so that you know, my "hangup" on this project right now is the time that will be required for the flash programmer.  The board should be quite easy - the flash programmer is another story....

And about USB host functionality - I thought you'd come around to my way of thinking  ;).  Seriously, though, USB takes a bit more board space than bluetooth, but I think it will be more flexible in the end.

Also, I thought the J72x dock provided USB-device operation....  I know it does serial.  I'll look tonight and respond again once I have more info.

Finally, kernel 2.6 seems to have a problem with gadget "flash disk" support.  I know that it isn't working on my Zaurus 3100 - but I might be doing something wrong...  :).
