Seeking help with intended matchbox "misuse"

Hi There,

first of all, thanks for that cute little window manager. It's been a
pleasure hacking it up so far :-). However, I haven't had any experience
with Xlib before, and by your measures probably not even with C. 

To come to a point, I need a window manager for a GUI kind of thing I'm
doing. One requirement is EWMH support, and Matchbox has that. The
problem is, I'm using a libwnck-based task list (same as GNOME2, iirc),
and Matchbox doesn't handle it quite correctly. 

More specifically, when you click an item, the respective window isn't
brought to the front. My trying to fix it didn't help much, it only led
to a few crashes... So I was wondering if you people could give me a
hand on this?

All abuse is being commited to a copy of Matchbox 0.5RC2.
