"desktop" should also be set in quotation marks though, since it is not what one would normally perceive as a desktop. It's just what's technically closest. It _could_ have been done as a theme if the "desktop" window would just tell Matchbox where to place the "viewport" on startup. But key is that the "desktop" window should at any given point in time be able to ask Matchbox for resizing/moving the other windows. An example of this could be when the user changes the screen resolution by way of XRandR. In that case the "desktop" window's widgets would resize, thus altering the viewport's size and requiring applications to be resized as well so they don't cover the "desktop" or show the white space the viewport is. Sorry, it's hard to explain. English is not my native tongue... If any of what I said above was unclear, I'd offer you a second look at 'http://awareness.dnsalias.net/photoalbum/RealDeal'. On the second picture from top you can see what happens when the screen resolution is modified, but the application windows (in this case an XTerm) are not resized accordingly.
