sigh.  it seems to work for me today, too.  :-)

until last week i was using the very old 0.6.2 that was available in
the debian feed, so maybe it was an old bug.  or maybe i was just
being dumb.  sorry for the noise.  (the symptom, i now recall, was
that matchbox would remove that launcher line from the mbdock.session
file -- i think it thought the xterm was dying prematurely.  if i see
something similar, i'll send a more detailed descriptiong.)
