Hi! I'm sure at least some of you on this list are already aware that the lack of a graphical card management applet for easily (un)mounting cards and turning on/off wifi cards is what I deem OZ's biggest failing in its current release from my recent postings on the OESF forums. There are two existing solutions to this that I'm aware of- matchbox-card-applet and DeviceHandler (part of the ROX desktop tools). The matchbox-card-applet is already in the OZ feeds but is badly broken- it lists the internal microdrive when it shouldn't, doesn't show other devices correctly and crashes X when you try to use it. I've not heard from anyone who has tried DeviceHandler under OZ so I don't know if it works or would require patching (probably) to work properly. lardman (Si) has pointed out that mb-card-applet makes use of copyrighted images but these can easily be removed or replaced without any loss of functionality. A green/red light next to the device name would be good enough. Has any progress been made addressing this very important usability issue? As I've said already on the forums, I believe getting this sorted out would be a big step towards converting many (including myself) from cacko/sharp to OZ/GPE. I think OE/OZ is an amazing project, as important as Debian or any other major software project so I'd like to congratulate all you guys on what you're doing for computing. I'd like to buy an OZ t-shirt to make a small contribution to its development and to help raise awareness of it. Do you do such a thing? dan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
