I thought so as is written in an article on
http://oesf.org/index.php?title=IPKG_Howto that an .ipk file is a
gzipped tar archive.

Thanks I got it to be extractable right now.
But now I don't know whats wrong with opie-mail. Though installed with
all links, it could not be located.
On http://openzaurus.org/wordpress/2005/11/05/354-release-candidate/
somebody noticed the same: "Restart Opie and there’s the mail icon…but
Grrr same bug as in 3.5.3 and others: Could not locate application
opiemail. WTF is going on and WTF can’t it find the goddam binary?".
Please solve this that such an important application will run properly.
