I'd double check If I were you (I'm prone to stupid errors atm) but 
aiui, the original patch simply involved setting some bit fields in a 
flag which explicitly switched on/off certain behaviours re power 
management. Marcin's kernel above attempts to do as I mused and apply a 
subsection of those switches, so that alarms will wake the device, but 
not in the case when there's AC power. Take my comments with a pinch of 
salt though :)

I've still not tested this myself yet. Also, as I was subsequently 
getting problems off AC power I'm not too hopeful. Needs testing 
nevertheless, esp with debug output now enabled (not sure if that's on 
in the above kernel too).
