setting up keymaps for poodle

Poodle PXA-250 OZ/GPE 3.5.4

I thought I had everything set, but after I make the following changes X
crashes & I get put back to the login screen. Any help is much appreciated :?).

Here's my new xmodmap file (keycodes gleaned from showkey):

    grog@grond[pts/0][/etc/X11]$ cat poodle.xmodmap
    keycode 88 = XF86Calendar
    keycode 89 = telephone
    keycode 48 = XF86Start
    keycode 90 = XF86Mail
    keycode 109 = XF86PowerDown

And here's the changes I made to the keymap script:
