Hello,

I bought an old SL-700 zaurus. Actually, it runs a cacko distribution. But

On my side most apps (but opie-compat based) start up in under in under one
second.

- simple terminal seems to be really memory consumer.
>

ps awx for several apps on my Sl-5500 (OZ 3.5.4, opie, root-on-SD):

Application size in memory (kb)
addressbook 4620
datebook 6036
texteditor 5476
opie-console 5440

I guess most of the per-app memory goes to shared libraries.

I want to use my zaurus as:

mostly covers my requirements.

No need for a MP3 player with beautiful animated equalizer: simply a MP3

xmms is good enough.

Do you think OpenZaurus can help me? Is it more optimized? Is it possible to

I used Cacko ROM for SL-5500 some time ago. It is based on sharp ROM, so
many programs written for sharp ROM work automatically. OZ's sharp-compat
package solves the problem, but takes it's own speed toll. Have not noticed
any memory-related problems though.
