Message:Wrong kernel loaded

I am trying to flash my Zaurus 5600 with 3.5.3. The update does complete
and the unit restarts but with a message that he wrong kernel is loaded.

The message is something close to :
Running 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix-021129
but 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix-3.5.3 in needed.

I have tried the format option from the update menu, but no data is
deleted. It is as if that option does nothing. How can I wipe the unit
so that I start from scratch?
