I'm not sure this is true! Certainly the conexant based USB devices can
use and sniff 802.11g with USB1.1. (This was not done on a zaurus, I
have no idea which g devices *are* supported on the zaurus)

There are several good reasons to use g, even with USB1.1

If you really want the speed, there is a slight improvement. You won't
see much more than 5Mbps out of 802.11b, but you can get about 8-9Mbps
of real throughput over USB 1.1. (Again I don't know about the zaurus,
this is just what is possible).

Another is that using a b client on a g AP causes the AP to use "ERP"
mode, which slows down all the links. Effective throughput compared
with a 802.11g AP with *no* b clients goes from say 23Mbps to 17Mbps.

Finally, the packets sent from/to the zaurus will be shorter, thus
increasing the effective bandwidth available for everyone else.

For my comments on the serial port, please see:

Note I wanted to use as a kernel output device, you don't need to change
the kernel to use as a normal serial port, but you do need the level
shifters.

These people sell a cable with level shifters, but I don't know if it
works with the c3200:
http://www.serialio.com/products/adaptors/ZThinCable.htm

I got the connector to make my own serial cable by buying a cheap usb
sync and change cable for the 5500/5600/6000/C860, and cutting the
cable up. It is very difficult to get the connectors in small
quantities otherwise.

The connector is the same.

Thanks,
Tim
