I've noticed this myself on my C3000. It doens't happen as often any
more. I think it has to do with the number and length of power button
presses. Since you're new to this your experiences with different
lengths of presses would be good.

Slow? I've always seen OZ as faster than Sharp, expecially after the
switch to softfloat. What exactly do you see as slow? The first boot
will of course take a while as it's setting up lots of packages.
Further boots will be much faster (if you even ned to reboot).

This is an interesting observation. What kind of difference are you
seeing? Perhaps Richard Purdie (our kernel hacker) could comment on
this.

What format do you need to play? I use mpd for music playing myself
with the ncmpc frontend. If you run GPE you can use gmpc or glurp as a
frontend.

I haven't used kopi in a while. How/when is it hanging? It *should* be
working, as should everything else.
