I agree, that maintenance combined of maintaining ready-to-use packages and working on better support for communications/IO features (BT, WiFi, external keyboards, cameras) will keep OPIE quite attractive and viable choice of environment. Coupled with Lorn's work on upgrading OPIE to the new infrastructure, OPIE's future doesn't seem dull at all. > In my oppinion, there are two things we are really need - the "marketing > requirements" and testing. > 1. Lame and flame ... > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, this is indeed very common. From one side, local community support sites are clear benefit, from the other side, they tend to lack connection to "mainline" source of information, and thus contribute to FUD. Well, we can't fix that - that's two sides (i.e. providing info and distorting it at the same time) of any mass communication media ;-). But we can alleviate that but teaching users that there's a mainline source of info, and any local support group has constraints on the actuality of the information it provides, that reports like "it doesn't work" don't work, and that bugs which are expected to be fixed eventually are reported to bugtracker, not as part of forum chat. Only at convenience, of course. ;-) > This is my view.
