IIRC this

OPIE II will base on Qt4 so some developers will work again on OPIE. For
example I refuse to do any new development for OPIE 1.2 but will do some
when we will get Qt4 based version.

Please do not call them office tools.. Abiword + Gnumeric are office tools
and I can run them on same PDA.

Konqueror4 will be easier to port to OPIE II then to current one. In
OpenEmbedded we have Konqueror from 2006 year built for Qt/e 2.3 but it
need changes for each distro which was released (qte -> qte-mt) and still
need work to get it nicely working.

For me OPIE can depend on external utils as long as they are properly used
and maintained. I do not like to re-inwent wheel (especially when one day
developer which did it will left project).

How many of external applications are still maintained? How many of them
are worth using? I think that this is rather small amount.

Too many of them were written in SL-5500 times when QVGA was the only
resolution which existed so programs looks like shit on VGA or higher.
IIRC you have QVGA ipaq so you can ignore that but I mostly use VGA
palmtops so it matters for me.

OPIE is stagnated, OPIE does not get any new developers (which write apps,
not port to another PDA), more and more core developers refuse to do any
work on OPIE etc..

Moving to Qt4 can change it - just because you get new, up-to-date toolkit
instead of few years old forgotten-by-normal-developers one.

Nawet zbyt daleko, nie jest jeszcze wystarczająco daleko.
